Evaluation of Film-Forming Sprays with Origanum Marjoram Extracts for Treating Alopecia Areata Induced by Cyclophosphamide in a Rabbit Model

This study evaluated a novel film-forming spray (FFS) using Origanum marjoram extracts to treat cyclophosphamide-induced alopecia in rabbits. Two formulations were tested: F1 (essential oil) and F2 (crude extract). The study found that F1, containing the essential oil, significantly promoted hair regrowth, increased dermal thickness, improved weight recovery, and normalized lymphocyte levels in treated rabbits. F1 dried faster and showed good bioadhesion with mild skin irritation. These findings suggest that Origanum marjoram essential oil in an FFS form is an effective and safe natural alternative for treating hair loss.
