TLDR Medical ozone therapy can cause serious complications, but hyperbaric oxygen therapy can help treat these issues.
Medical ozone therapy, used for conditions like hair growth and collagen formation, can lead to serious complications, as demonstrated in a case involving a 43-year-old female who experienced worsening alopecia and scarring after ozone injections. These complications required surgical intervention and were managed with 40 sessions of hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which improved tissue vascularity and healing. The study concludes that despite potential cellular benefits, the significant risks associated with medical ozone therapy may outweigh its therapeutic advantages, and hyperbaric oxygenation can be an effective treatment for ozone-related adverse effects.
