TLDR The measures for eyebrow and eyelash hair loss in severe Alopecia Areata are reliable and useful for clinical trials.
The study evaluated the Clinician-Reported Outcome (ClinRO) Measures for Eyebrow and Eyelash Hair Loss in patients with severe Alopecia Areata (AA). It involved 1,399 participants (1,281 adults and 118 adolescents) and aimed to assess the content validity and psychometric properties of these measures. Clinicians found the ClinROs appropriate and easy to use. The psychometric analysis demonstrated high test-retest reliability (kappa coefficients of 0.90 for eyebrows and 0.91 for eyelashes) and intra-rater reliability (0.97 for both). The measures effectively distinguished between different severity groups and were responsive to changes over 24 weeks, supporting their use in clinical trials for AA.
