TLDR Coastal residents in Bangladesh link extreme temperatures and saline water to various health issues and stress the need for clean water and health education.
This study investigates the perceptions of 391 coastal residents in Ramgati, Lakshmipur, Bangladesh, regarding the health impacts of climate change-induced extreme temperatures and saline water. Participants reported health issues such as heat stroke, dengue, migraines, hair loss, high blood pressure, and developmental problems in children. The analysis showed significant associations between perceived health risks and factors like age, gender, high salinity, and temperature. The study emphasizes the need for clean water access, climate adaptation strategies, health education, and integrated public health approaches to address these challenges in vulnerable coastal communities.
