TLDR Stopping finasteride can lead to lasting sexual and psychological issues.
This study examined 129 adult men who had previously used finasteride for male pattern hair loss or benign prostatic hyperplasia, focusing on persistent sexual and psychological symptoms after discontinuation. Results showed that while erectile function remained stable, depressive and anxiety symptoms decreased but did not normalize for most patients. Higher cumulative exposure to finasteride and older age were linked to more severe symptoms. The study emphasizes the need for further research to better understand risk factors and long-term outcomes associated with finasteride use.
