Medical Technologies: Pharmaceutical Cosmetology, Cosmeceuticals – Opportunities and Limitations

    The article examines pharmaceutical cosmetology, particularly cosmeceuticals, which combine cosmetic and biological effects on the skin. A review of 62 high-evidence publications highlights advanced technologies like nanoemulsions and liposomes that improve ingredient bioavailability, showing clinical efficacy in treating conditions such as photoaging, acne, hyperpigmentation, and alopecia. It underscores the importance of pharmaceutical care for safe cosmeceutical use and explores the potential for personalized products through genetic tests and AI. The article also points out regulatory challenges in the USA, EU, and Ukraine, advocating for standardized definitions and regulatory frameworks to progress the field.
