This review highlights the distinct phytoconstituent composition and pharmacological activities of Trigonella foenum-graecum (Fenugreek) leaves and seeds. Fenugreek seeds are rich in compounds like Galactomannan and Trigonelline, which exhibit anti-diabetic and anti-hyperlipidemic properties by reducing glucose and lipid absorption. In contrast, Fenugreek leaves contain high saponin content, providing potent anti-microbial activities, including anti-dandruff and anti-fungal effects. Both leaves and seeds are safe for topical use, offering anti-inflammatory benefits and strengthening hair follicles to reduce hair fall. The study emphasizes the importance of understanding the phytochemistry and pharmacology of Fenugreek to optimize its therapeutic applications and suggests future research on bio-active derivatization to enhance its pharmacological effects.
