TLDR Placental extracts may help with aging and some chronic diseases, but more research is needed.
Placental extracts, including human placental extract (HPE), Laennec, and porcine-derived formulations, have shown potential therapeutic benefits for various non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as metabolic disorders, liver pathologies, and age-related syndromes. These extracts enhance liver function, improve glucose regulation, and offer anti-aging and dermatological benefits, including reduced hair loss. The mechanisms involve reducing oxidative stress, promoting cell regeneration, and regulating metabolic processes. Although the current evidence from preclinical and clinical studies is promising, large-scale trials are necessary to confirm their efficacy and understand the molecular pathways involved.
