Plum-Blossom Needle Tapping Combined With Ginger Juice Rubbing as an Effective Therapy for Preventing Hair Loss in Female Obese Patients After Metabolic Bariatric Surgery: A 6-Month 2×2 Factorial Design Research Protocol
May 2026
TLDR Plum-blossom needle tapping with ginger juice rubbing may help prevent hair loss after bariatric surgery.
This study investigates the effectiveness of plum-blossom needle tapping combined with ginger juice rubbing in preventing hair loss in 96 female obese patients after metabolic bariatric surgery. Utilizing a 2×2 factorial design, participants are divided into four groups: control, plum-blossom needle tapping, ginger juice rubbing, and combined treatment. The primary outcome is hair loss incidence assessed by trichoscopy at 3 and 6 months post-treatment. Secondary outcomes include biochemical indicators, Traditional Chinese Medicine syndrome scores, and appearance anxiety. The trial aims to provide preliminary data on these traditional Chinese medicine techniques as potential interventions for postoperative hair loss, offering a basis for future large-scale research.
