TLDR Women with PCOS often have severe PMS, but managing anemia and regular menstruation can help reduce symptoms.
This study investigated premenstrual syndrome (PMS) in 120 women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). It found that women with PCOS experience severe PMS, with symptoms like fatigue, attention deficit, edema, and headaches. Factors such as education level, smoking status, and anemia significantly influenced PMS severity. Smokers and those with lower education levels had higher PMS scores, while treatment for anemia reduced symptoms. Regular menstruation was associated with less severe PMS. The study suggests that monitoring hemoglobin levels and providing prompt treatment can alleviate PMS symptoms in women with PCOS.
