TLDR Spanish speakers with limited English search most for "pigmentation/dark spots."
This study analyzed the frequency of Google searches by US Spanish speakers with limited English proficiency for dermatologic conditions using Google Keyword Planner and Google Trends. The focus was on five categories: acne, dry skin, pigmentation, nail fungus, and hair loss. From 2010 to 2020, "pigmentation/dark spots" had the highest search volume index (xS-VI 71.27), followed by "hair loss" (xS-VI 52.12) and "nail fungus" (xS-VI 47.42). "Pigmentation/dark spots" was searched significantly more than the other conditions, and "hair loss" was searched more than "nail fungus." The findings suggest that dermatology organizations can use search engine optimization to better address the needs of Spanish speakers with limited English proficiency.
