This review discusses the progress in identifying and understanding hair follicle stem cell (HFSC) markers and their regulatory roles. HFSCs, located in the bulge, are multipotent adult stem cells capable of regenerating hair follicles, epidermis, and sebaceous glands. Recent advancements in single-cell transcriptomics have enhanced the identification and tracing of HFSCs through various biomarkers. The review emphasizes the significance of these molecular markers in understanding HFSC regulation and their potential applications in regenerative medicine.
