Platelet-Rich Plasma Accelerates Skin Wound Healing by Promoting Re-Epithelialization

The study concluded that platelet-rich plasma (PRP) significantly accelerated skin wound healing by promoting re-epithelialization, enhancing angiogenesis, and facilitating wound contraction and collagen deposition. Conducted on C57/BL6 mice with 5 subjects per group, the research demonstrated that PRP reduced inflammatory cytokines like IL-17 and IL-1β, increased local vessel intensity, and enhanced the secretion of growth factors such as VEGF and IGF-1. PRP also improved the survival, migration, and proliferation of epidermal stem cells, aiding their differentiation into adult cells. These findings provided a preliminary foundation for the clinical use of PRP in wound healing, although further investigation into the underlying mechanisms was needed.
