TLDR PRP more effective than minoxidil 5% for treating alopecia areata.
This document is a scientific study that compares the effectiveness of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and minoxidil 5% in treating alopecia areata (AA). The study involved 90 patients who were divided into three groups, with one group receiving PRP injections, another receiving minoxidil 5%, and the third receiving a placebo. Trichoscopic examination was performed before and after treatment. The study found that both PRP and minoxidil 5% were effective in promoting hair growth, but PRP was more effective in reducing short vellus hair and yellow dots. The study suggests that PRP can be a promising treatment option for AA.
