TLDR Pseudopelade of Brocq is hard to diagnose and treat, with limited effective options.
Pseudopelade of Brocq is a rare form of scarring alopecia characterized by patchy hair loss without significant inflammation. The case report described a 20-year-old male with a 2-year history of progressive hair loss and mild itching. The condition is challenging to diagnose and treat, often being the end result of other inflammatory conditions like lichen planus or lupus erythematosus. Histopathological features include the absence of marked inflammation and the presence of fibrotic streams. Treatment options, including intralesional steroids, showed poor efficacy, and the condition remains largely irreversible. Autografting and other surgical techniques have limited success, highlighting the need for more effective management strategies.
