The study investigates the expression of S100A7 and IL-17 in lichen planopilaris (LPP), a type of scarring alopecia. The research involved 14 participants and utilized a Zeiss Axio Imager A2 light microscope to evaluate tissue expression. Findings indicate that S100A7 and IL-17 may play a role in the pathogenesis of LPP, as their expression was significantly higher in LPP lesional skin compared to healthy controls. However, the expression of S100A4 did not show significant differences among LPP lesional skin, alopecia areata lesional skin, and normal skin. These results suggest a potential involvement of S100A7 and IL-17 in LPP's inflammatory processes.
