Comparing Quality of Life, Anxiety, Depression, Sleep Disturbance, and Associated Factors in Vitiligo and Alopecia Areata Patients

    The study involving 188 patients compared the quality of life (QoL), anxiety, depression, and sleep disturbances between those with vitiligo and alopecia areata (AA). It found that AA patients experienced a lower QoL and higher levels of anxiety and depression compared to vitiligo patients, with significant differences in scores (QoL: 9.28 vs. 5.66, depression: 8.24 vs. 5.37, anxiety: 10.88 vs. 6.55). Sleep disturbances were prevalent in both groups, with no significant difference. Employment and higher education were linked to better QoL, especially in vitiligo patients. The study emphasizes the need for psychological support for these patients and notes limitations such as not considering disease severity or age range.
