TLDR Hair disorders significantly affect quality of life, but treatment improves it.
The study assessed the impact of hair disorders on quality of life (QoL) in 318 patients, predominantly female, using the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI). It found that 87.2% experienced QoL impairment, with the most significant impact among younger, single, and rural patients, particularly those with folliculitis decalvans. After six months of treatment, there was a significant improvement in DLQI scores across various hair disorders, including frontal fibrosing alopecia, androgenetic alopecia, and alopecia areata. The study suggests that integrating psychological support into trichological care could enhance patient outcomes.
