TLDR Quercetin may help improve skin conditions in cats with Feline Atopic Skin Syndrome.
This study investigated the effects of quercetin on cats with Feline Atopic Skin Syndrome (FASS), involving 36 cats divided into FASS (27 cats) and healthy (9 cats) groups. Quercetin was administered orally for 14 days, and clinical findings were assessed using SCORFAD, FEDESI, and VAS scoring systems. Significant reductions in clinical scores were observed in the Head-and-Neck Pruritus (HNP) and Miliary Dermatitis (MD) groups, while improvement was limited in the Self-Induced Alopecia (SIA) group. Although no significant differences in thiol-disulfide balance were found, slight reductions in total thiol and disulfide levels were noted. The results suggest that quercetin may alleviate oxidative stress and improve clinical outcomes in FASS treatment.
