Rapid Formation of Cell Aggregates and Spheroids Induced by a “Smart” Boronic Acid Copolymer

    The study demonstrated that a thermoresponsive boronic acid copolymer could rapidly induce the formation of cell aggregates and spheroids from cancer or cardiac cell lines under standard culture conditions. This process was accelerated by at least 24 hours compared to controls without the polymer. The copolymer allowed for precise control over aggregation kinetics due to its responsiveness to temperature and glucose levels. This method showed potential for applications in three-dimensional tissue and tumor modeling, as well as tissue engineering, due to its simplicity and effectiveness in promoting cellular aggregation.
