This review explores the potential of Rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf extract as a natural remedy for promoting hair growth, particularly in patients with androgenetic alopecia (AGA). Unlike conventional treatments such as minoxidil, which can cause side effects like scalp irritation and dependency, rosemary extract offers a natural alternative with fewer adverse effects. The review highlights research using both in vitro and in vivo models, demonstrating rosemary's efficacy in enhancing hair follicle proliferation and extending the anagen phase of hair growth. Clinical trials have shown significant improvements in hair density and thickness among participants using rosemary extract compared to control groups. These findings suggest that rosemary extract could be a viable natural alternative for hair loss treatment, though further research is needed to understand its mechanisms and long-term benefits.
