Clinical Outcomes of Ritlecitinib in Treatment-Refractory Alopecia Areata: A Single-Center Real-World Study

This study evaluated the effectiveness of ritlecitinib, a selective JAK3/TEC inhibitor, in 19 patients with moderate-to-severe, treatment-refractory alopecia areata (AA). The results showed significant hair regrowth, with 89.5% of patients achieving at least a 50% reduction in their Severity of Alopecia Tool (SALT) score, and 52.6% experiencing complete scalp regrowth. The treatment was well tolerated, with only mild and transient side effects reported. These findings suggest that ritlecitinib is a promising therapeutic option for patients with treatment-resistant AA, offering substantial and lasting hair regrowth with a favorable safety profile.
