TLDR Ayurvedic treatment effectively improved tinea capitis symptoms.
This case report discusses the management of tinea capitis, a fungal infection of the scalp, in a 63-year-old female using an Ayurvedic multimodal treatment approach. The patient experienced symptoms such as pain, itching, redness, pus, blood discharge, burning sensation, and mild hair loss. The treatment involved rakta mokshana using jalauka, along with shamana aushadi and bahya chikitsa, while considering nidana parivarjana. Over 35 days, the patient showed promising improvement, suggesting that shamana aushadis with kandughna, kushtaghna, and rakta shodhaka properties are effective in managing tinea capitis.
