What Is the Importance of Scalp Health in Pre and Post Hair Transplant Periods? Narrative Literature Review

This narrative literature review highlights the importance of scalp health in the pre- and post-operative periods of hair transplantation, particularly with the FUE technique. Despite the scalp being central to hair transplantation, there is limited scientific evidence on its role in the procedure's success. The review analyzed 27 eligible studies from 153 articles, with 14 focusing on pre-operative care, 21 on post-operative care, and 9 on both. Most current care practices rely on individual surgeons' opinions. The study concludes that further research is needed to establish effective protocols and identify optimal cosmetics and treatments for scalp preparation and post-operative care.
