TLDR Early diagnosis and treatment stopped hair loss and improved the condition.
The document presents a clinical case of pseudopelade of Brocq, a form of scarring alopecia, in a 46-year-old female patient. The diagnosis was based on clinical and trichoscopic findings, revealing hair loss with smooth, atrophic skin and absence of follicular openings. Treatment included a peripheral vasodilator, B vitamins, a topical corticosteroid lotion, and a shampoo for sensitive scalp. After 3 weeks, hair loss ceased, and no new lesions appeared, with positive clinical progress noted over the following 4 weeks. Early diagnosis and treatment are emphasized to prevent atrophy and effectively manage the condition.

Scalp biopsies are crucial for diagnosing hair loss conditions like Diffuse Unpatterned Alopecia (DUPA) and retrograde hair loss, as treatments like finasteride and dutasteride may not be effective if other conditions are present. Combining PPAR-GAMMA agonists with retinoids could improve treatments for conditions like Lichen Planopilaris.
