TLDR Higher IgE levels may play a role in alopecia areata, especially in males, children, and severe cases.
The study found that total serum IgE levels are elevated in patients with alopecia areata (AA) compared to a control group. Notably, male patients, children, and those with moderate to severe AA exhibited significantly higher IgE levels. These findings indicate a potential role of IgE and Th2 cytokines in the pathogenesis of AA.
