TLDR Over half of the students had skin diseases, mainly foot issues and acne, with many unaware or untreated.
A study conducted on 682 male adolescent and post-adolescent boarding school students in Turkey found that 55.42% had at least one skin disease. The most common conditions were tinea pedis (32.5%), acne vulgaris (28.6%), and onychomycosis (8.06%). Notably, 5.6% of the students had androgenetic alopecia. A significant portion of those affected, 65%, were unaware of their conditions, and 45% of those who were aware had not sought medical help. The study concluded that skin diseases, particularly foot-related issues, were prevalent in this population, and recommended medical education programs to improve awareness and treatment.
