TLDR Philippine stingless bee propolis may promote hair growth and fight cancer.
This study investigated the biological effects of ethanol-extracted Philippine stingless bee propolis, focusing on hair growth and anti-cancer activities. The research demonstrated that the propolis promoted hair growth and protected hair follicles from damage caused by the anticancer drug cyclophosphamide in mouse models, suggesting its potential as a hair growth-promoting substance. Additionally, a specific component of the propolis, 2'-hydroxy-6'-methoxy Chalcone (HMC), was found to inhibit the proliferation of various human cancer cell lines by inducing apoptosis. These findings indicated that Philippine stingless bee propolis could be a promising agricultural product for anti-hair loss and anti-cancer supplements, although further studies are needed for clinical applications.
