TLDR Combining surgery with growth factor injections effectively improves hair regrowth and scar management in Pseudopelade of Brocq.
A 29-year-old woman with Pseudopelade of Brocq (PPB), a form of scarring alopecia, underwent scalp reduction surgery followed by concentrated growth factor (CGF) injections. The surgery initially resulted in erythema, itching, and scar hyperplasia, but after six monthly CGF injections, these symptoms improved significantly, and hair density increased to 98.763 hairs/cm². CGF, rich in growth factors, promotes hair follicle stem cell proliferation and has antifibrotic properties, making it effective in treating scarring alopecia. This case demonstrates that combining surgical excision with CGF injections is an effective, economical, and safer alternative to hair transplantation for stable, localized PPB.
