TLDR Breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy often worry, lose weight, and cope by praying, meditating, or seeking support.
The study assessed symptom experiences and coping strategies among 103 female breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. The most common psychological symptom was "worrying," while "weight loss" was the most prevalent physical symptom, and "hair loss" was less common. Active coping was primarily through praying or meditating (92.5%), passive coping involved activities to distract from the situation (71%), and seeking support was common, with patients often seeking advice or help from others. The study highlights the diverse coping mechanisms employed by patients to manage the psychological and physical challenges of chemotherapy.
