TLDR The combination of Rhynchosia nulubilis and Polygonum multiflorum extracts may effectively promote hair growth and reduce hair loss.
This study investigates the synergistic effects of Rhynchosia nulubilis (RN) and Polygonum multiflorum (PM) extracts on human dermal papilla cells (hDPCs), particularly in counteracting testosterone-induced cytotoxicity. A 4:1 combination of RN and PM extracts significantly enhanced hDPC proliferation compared to individual extracts, with elevated levels of growth factors IGFBP-1 and NT-3 confirmed via Western blot analysis. The study identifies genistein from RN and 2,3,5,4'-tetrahydroxystilbene-2-O-β-D-glucoside from PM as potential active compounds. This research suggests that the RN and PM combination could be an effective treatment strategy for hair loss, highlighting the potential of synergy in natural product applications.
