TLDR Phenylpropanoid sucrose esters show potential as anticancer agents.
The thesis investigated the synthesis, characterization, and antiproliferative activities of phenylpropanoid sucrose esters (PSEs), both natural and synthetic. Approximately 150 natural PSEs had been identified from various plant families, traditionally used to treat numerous conditions, including cancer and hair loss. Despite their potential, synthetic routes for these compounds were largely undeveloped due to their complex structures, with niruriside being an exception. The study aimed to address these challenges in sucrochemistry to explore the anticancer potential of PSEs.
