TLDR Researchers made minoxidil efficiently using cobalt ferrite nanoparticles as a reusable catalyst.
In the 2019 study, researchers successfully synthesized minoxidil using cobalt ferrite (CoFe2O4) magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) as a catalyst. The MNPs were prepared through a solid-state grinding method and showed high catalytic activity, achieving a 95% yield of minoxidil in 60 minutes using hydrogen peroxide in refluxing ethanol. The catalyst was also reusable for up to six cycles with minimal loss of activity or magnetic properties. This method provides an efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly approach to producing minoxidil with high yield and purity. The catalyst's easy magnetic separation process and the short reaction time further enhance the practicality of this synthesis technique.

The user is using RU58841, Minoxidil, and weekly microneedling for hair loss, having stopped finasteride due to side effects like low libido and depression. They are considering dutasteride as an alternative but are cautious due to past experiences with DHT blockers.

community “Just minoxidil” users, how are you doing now?

in Minoxidil  23 upvotes 2 days ago
Minoxidil alone is often insufficient for significant hair regrowth, with many users experiencing limited results or side effects, leading them to add finasteride or dutasteride for better outcomes. Some users report initial improvements with minoxidil but eventually require additional treatments to maintain or enhance hair growth.
