The study investigates the use of cetirizine-loaded transferosomal gel (CET-TFS) as a novel treatment for androgenetic alopecia (AGA). Conducted on 40 male BALB/c mice, the research found that CET-TFS significantly enhanced hair growth and increased levels of IGF-1 and VEGF, which are indicators of hair follicle activity. The optimal formulation, F8, showed high stability and effective penetration, suggesting CET-TFS as a promising alternative to traditional treatments like minoxidil. However, the study notes limitations, including the lack of a positive comparator and the exclusive use of male mice, indicating the need for further research to confirm safety and efficacy in humans.
