TLDR Trichoscopy effectively diagnoses temporal triangular alopecia in children.
Temporal triangular alopecia (TTA) is a rare, non-scarring form of hair loss characterized by a distinct bald patch in the frontotemporal area, often triangular in shape. This study presents six cases of TTA in children aged 7 months to 6 years, diagnosed using trichoscopy, which revealed intact follicular openings and vellus hairs. TTA is often misdiagnosed as other types of alopecia, but trichoscopy helps differentiate it by showing unique patterns without inflammation or scarring. The condition is benign and nonprogressive, with management options including reassurance and topical minoxidil. Understanding TTA's clinical and trichoscopic features is crucial for accurate diagnosis and avoiding unnecessary treatments.
