This study on Rex rabbits examined the Wnt10b/β-catenin signaling pathway's role in hair follicle development across different ages, involving 6 rabbits aged 15 to 150 days. Hair follicle density and development varied with age, peaking at 120 days, with significant changes in gene expression and protein phosphorylation levels. The pathway, along with others like TGFβ-BMP, IGF1, and EGF, was crucial in regulating hair follicle growth and differentiation. The findings suggest that the optimal age for Rex rabbit fur harvesting should be no earlier than 120 days, as this is when hair follicle density and secondary follicle differentiation are highest.
