Therapeutic Advances in the Treatment of Androgenetic Alopecia: A Review of Current Scientific Evidence

    Alopecia androgenética, the most common form of non-scarring alopecia, involves progressive miniaturization of hair follicles due to genetic, hormonal, and molecular factors. This narrative review highlights recent therapeutic advances, emphasizing the importance of understanding the disease's pathophysiology. While minoxidil and 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors remain the most scientifically supported treatments, emerging therapies like microneedling, platelet-rich plasma, low-intensity laser, and regenerative medicine show promise as complementary options. The study concludes that ongoing evolution in treatment, early diagnosis, individualized therapies, and continuous scientific updates are crucial for optimizing clinical outcomes and expanding therapeutic possibilities in trichology.
