TLDR Oral minoxidil and growth factors improved hair density and thickness in a girl with hereditary hair loss.
A 14-year-old girl with hereditary hypotrichosis simplex (HS), a rare form of nonsyndromic alopecia, showed significant improvement in hair density and thickness after 3 months of treatment with oral minoxidil (0.25 mg daily) and growth factors. HS is characterized by progressive scalp hair loss starting in childhood, often leading to near-complete baldness by the third decade. The patient, who had a LIPH gene mutation, experienced positive results, suggesting that oral minoxidil can be an effective treatment for improving hair density and thickness in congenital hypotrichosis.
