TLDR Platelet-rich plasma injections can effectively treat alopecia areata barbae.
A 30-year-old male with alopecia areata barbae (AAB) experienced robust hair regrowth after three platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections administered at six-week intervals. Stabilization was observed before the second injection, minimal regrowth before the third, and significant regrowth at the one-year follow-up. This case was the first reported successful treatment of AAB using PRP, suggesting it as a new, safe, and potentially effective treatment option. Further studies were recommended to compare its efficacy with conventional therapies.
