This study evaluated the diagnostic performance of the trichogram compared to scalp biopsy in 49 women with suspected female androgenetic alopecia (FAGA). The trichogram's sensitivity improved significantly when intermediate hairs were included or when using the relative diameter method, achieving a sensitivity of 96% and 77.6%, respectively. These findings suggest that the trichogram, with these adaptations, is a practical, non-invasive, and cost-effective diagnostic tool that correlates well with histopathology, making it a valuable method in clinical practice for assessing FAGA.
