TLDR Trichoscopy is a cost-effective and non-invasive tool for diagnosing alopecia areata.
The study focused on the use of trichoscopy as a diagnostic tool for alopecia areata, involving 50 patients. Trichoscopy, which uses magnified light sources, was found to be effective in identifying specific patterns associated with alopecia areata, such as white dots in 90% of patients, black dots in 80%, and yellow dots in 50%. Other findings included broken hairs, white hairs, short vellus hairs, exclamation mark hairs, circle hairs, and tapering hairs. The study concluded that trichoscopy is a valuable, non-invasive, and cost-effective method for diagnosing alopecia areata, assessing disease activity, and determining severity.
