    The study confirmed that applying apoptotic extracellular vesicles (ApoEVs) derived from umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (UCMSCs) locally improved cutaneous wound healing in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) mice. The ApoEVs were found to inhibit macrophage pyroptosis, a form of cell death that produces inflammatory factors affecting wound healing, both in vivo and in vitro under high glucose conditions. The study also suggested that ApoEVs reduce oxidative stress levels, which could be the mechanism by which they inhibit macrophage pyroptosis.
