TLDR Online articles about alopecia areata are too hard to understand and need to be clearer.
The study evaluated the readability of 251 online articles about alopecia areata and its treatments across 5 languages, finding that the materials are generally very hard to comprehend, with an overall mean Lix score of 52 ± 8. Articles on treatments, particularly those about Janus kinase inhibitors, were even more difficult, with mean scores of 55 ± 8 and 57 ± 10, respectively. The findings emphasize the necessity for clearer patient education materials to aid informed decision-making and enhance therapeutic relationships.
