TLDR For best results in vascular transplants, use donor vessels within 3 days.
The study on 50 male Wistar rats examined the effects of vascular tissue transplantation and anastomosis at different storage times on tissue repair in a rat ischemia model. It found that using donor vessels preserved for 3 days resulted in better tissue recovery from ischemia-reperfusion injury compared to those preserved for 7 days. The 3-day preservation led to higher graft patency, better tissue regeneration, and fewer complications, with a success rate of 93.33% versus 46.67% for the 7-day group. The study concludes that for optimal outcomes in vascular transplantation, vessels should be used within 3 days to minimize tissue damage and complications.
