TLDR Vibration anesthesia effectively and safely reduces pain during botulinum toxin injections.
This study evaluated the effectiveness and safety of vibration anesthesia (VA) in reducing pain during botulinum toxin injections for masseter reduction, involving 216 patients. VA significantly decreased pain scores from 4.72 to 2.97 on the visual analog scale, with 69.44% of patients preferring VA for future procedures. The study found minimal side effects not linked to VA and confirmed through a cadaver experiment that VA did not affect the diffusion radius or depth of injections. The findings suggest that VA is an effective and safe method for pain reduction, recommending its use with larger syringe sizes and fewer injection points to improve patient experience.
