TLDR PRP injections for hair growth can cause temporary vision loss, which may be resolved with treatment.
This case report describes a rare occurrence of reversible vision loss in a 22-year-old female following platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection for hair growth. Despite PRP's regenerative benefits, the patient experienced unilateral vision loss a month after treatment, which was fully resolved with corticosteroid therapy. The presence of a pituitary microadenoma suggests potential interactions between PRP growth factors and neurovascular structures. The report calls for caution and further research to understand PRP's neurological effects and to develop safety guidelines, especially regarding vision-related complications.
