TLDR Vitamin A levels don't significantly affect alopecia areata.
This study investigated the role of serum vitamin A in the etiopathogenesis of alopecia areata by comparing 34 patients with the condition to 38 control individuals. The results showed that while the mean and median serum vitamin A levels were lower in the alopecia areata group, the difference was not statistically significant. All patients had mild disease severity, which may have influenced the findings. Stress levels were significantly higher in the alopecia areata group. The study suggests that further large-scale research including patients with more severe disease is needed to better understand the relationship between alopecia areata and vitamin A.
