TLDR Vitamin A levels don't significantly affect alopecia areata.
This case-control study investigated the role of serum vitamin A in the etiopathogenesis of alopecia areata, involving 34 patients with the condition and 38 controls. The study found that while serum vitamin A levels were lower in the alopecia areata group compared to controls, the difference was not statistically significant. All patients had mild disease severity, which may have influenced the results. Stress levels were significantly higher in the alopecia areata group. The study suggests that further large-scale research including patients with more severe disease is needed to better understand the relationship between alopecia areata and vitamin A.
