Vitamin D levels and their relationship with the type of involvement in alopecia areata patients

This case-control study investigated the relationship between vitamin D levels and alopecia areata, including different types of involvement (patchy, diffuse, total, and universal), in 41 patients compared to 41 controls. The results showed no statistically significant difference in vitamin D levels between the patient and control groups, nor between groups based on the type of alopecia involvement. Additionally, dividing participants into groups with normal, borderline low, and low vitamin D levels revealed no significant differences in disease presence or extent patterns. The study concluded that there is no significant connection between vitamin D levels and alopecia areata or its extent of involvement.
