TLDR Higher testosterone and lower Vitamin D levels are linked to hair loss in female COVID-19 patients.
This study examined the relationship between hair loss and hormonal factors, specifically testosterone and Vitamin D, in 100 female COVID-19 patients, including 50 experiencing hair loss. Results showed that females with hair loss had higher serum testosterone levels and lower Vitamin D levels compared to controls. Significant correlations were found between testosterone and Vitamin D levels, as well as between testosterone and age. The study concluded that testosterone has a good predictive value for hair loss, highlighting the importance of considering nutritional and hormonal factors in understanding COVID-19-associated hair loss.
